Default Dishwasher will not drain completely

My dishwasher (Sears 587.1651590). does not pump out all of the water. At the end of the cycle, there is always water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I do know it drains because during some cycles, there is a big stream of water draining into the garbage disposal. What would cause an incomplete drain?

Hi,

A restriction in the drain system, could be anywhere from the exit port on the motor and pump assembly all the way to the disposal ( common )....cracked or worn drain pump impellor in the motor and pump assembly ( common )....timer not allowing enough time for drain outs ( not common )....motor overheating and shutting off ( not overly common )....motor not always reversing ( not overly common )....fill valve weeping in water all the time when it should be ( lightly common ).

A D&M built Kenmore. Motor runs in one direction to wash, motor stops, reverses and runs in the other direction to drain.

Thanks for the response Jeff

It appears that it only runs in one direction. There are times when I see water draining in a solid stream into the garbage disposal but the unit will not drain completely. Also, I don't see the drain solenoid. Where is that and what do I do if the motor does not reverse?

Your doesn't have one....this d/w is a forward reversing style.

Sounds like it is if you see water draining out sometimes.

Weak/broken drain impellor/motor&pump assembly or restriction in the drain system is more likely.
