Default New 1/2 Inch Copper Pipes in 2x4 Wall

As I have started plumbing the supply lines to my half bath in the basement, I realize why the plumbing books I have seen recommend notching the front of the studs instead of boring holes through them - it's very difficult to get 1/2" copper of significant length lined up through these holes.

So, if I notch the studs, I'll need to use the protective plates to protect the pipes and repair the stud surface. I'm concerned about galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals if I use the steel protective plates and the copper pipe happens to bump up against it. Could I simply duct tape the pipe where it might contact the protective plate? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Duct tape won't last. The glue will dry out and it will fall off in 2 years. I would use a piece of rubber under the plate or drill through the studs.

Painting the pipes or the plate would be better than duct tape in my opinion.

Electrical tape works very well in this "application".
