Default wiring hot tub

I need to wire my hot tub. It requires a 3 wire plus ground 240 volts. The problem is that the the house has a juctiion box mounted which is fed with a 2 wire plus a ground. This is connected at the breaker box to two 30 amp breakers barred together. One breaker feeds the juction with the black wire and one feeds the juction with the white wire. My question is, can I wire my hot tub to this junction box, and if so how, or do I need to have a 3 wire plus ground run from the breaker to the junction box?

We need some details on your hot tub.

What is the amp load rating on the instruction sheet. Most hot tubs are 50 amp 240 volt rated. However there are some out there that are drainable hot tubs like a bathtub that uses less amps. Look at your hot tub installation instructions or inside the hot tub and see what size breakers and how many breakers are inside you hot tub where you connect to the hot tub with your branch circuit wires. This will tell us what amp rating your hot tub is requiring.

Then tell us if you have underwater lights in this hot tub.

Then tell us if your hot tub is installed outside or inside the home.

Then tell us how far from the house and how far from the panel this hot tub will be.

Then tell us what size main service rated panel you have in your home that will carry the load of this hot tub.

Then tell us if you have a basement, crawlspace, and attic.

Then we can come up with an accurate plan that should meet Code for you to work with.
