Default Walk in cooler drain

A friend of mine has a 10 X 8 walk in cooler with a cement floor and 1- 3" drain in the center of the floor. The problem is, water stands in the cooler around the walls due to the
floor not being properly prepared before the cooler was installed. My question is can cement be placed on top of the original cement floor to form a proper slope to the center and make the water drain or should the floor be taken up and start over?

If you have the door clearances etc. extend your drain up 2". Then install a blue board insualting board 5" tall, or use thick metal that can sustain the alkiline of the concrete and make a wrap around the walls to avoid damaging the cooling unit walls. Kind of making a pan wrap around the cooling room separating the concrete from the cooling unit walls.

Then pour your concrete no less than 3" deep at the drain filterd up to 4" deep on the outside wall.

You may be able to push the 3" minimum down to 2" at the drain and 3" to the outside but no less or the concrete layer would break apart.

Lay a bisquine layer between the old existing floor and the new layer of concrete then about 1" of sand for movement.

This should provide your slope with a concrete layer that should hold up to wear and tear of long term use.

Let us know how you come out.

Good Luck
