Default Kenmore Series 80 Dryer dying?

My Dryer refused to start recently. I suspected too much load, but even when I tried to start it while empty, it would struggle to start and just stop. I thought it was dead. But when I tried it today, it struggled again, but managed to start up.

Any ideas on what might be wrong? Thanks.

Hi,

**Kenmore Series 80 Dryer**

Model#?
"80 Series" isn't it.

Some model# helps.

**but even when I tried to start it while empty, it would struggle to start and just stop**

We normally start to eliminate things like a seized/seizing drum support ( wheels, glides ) that might be holding the motor back from running. Might even slip off the drum belt and see how easily the drum turns on it's own. If nothing is holding the motor back from running, then the motor itself may be going sour.

jeff.
