Default Interferance on radio

While on the am mode of my radio in my car I get some kind of weird pulsating interferance over my radio. It happens over the 1030-1050 frequency and can vary on the frequency. This noise is pulsating and a high pitch squeel bleeding over some stations. What is the cause of this interferance.I can only pick it up when the motor is not running.
help please!

Is it a factory radio?

Does it do it in only 1 physical location? or can you be in other area, (work, store, ect) and it do it then too? (could it be interference?) Any cell towers in the area? I pass one on the way home from work that screws with AM. High pitched squeeling, ect...

Your antenna may have corosion around the base (giving it a bad ground) It may need removed and cleaned. (very common on fords)

Yes its a factory radio and I dont know if it does it at any other location.I know that there is a cell tower across the river in sarnia canada about a 1/2 mile away.I know that the interferance goes away when I put my foot on the brake peddle.Pretty strange if you ask me.My am radio pics up similar sounding type interferance in my home also.Maybe the fbi or police have bugged me,what do you think? No Im not joking either!

Hey mr T I did a test to se if that interferance was any different at a new location.Come to find out the source is coming from something along our river front.I live near an international border between the U.S. and Canada.Im probaly thinking that there are hidden cameras and or cell towers causing the interferance since the further away from it I got it seem to go away.

The fact that you only hear it when the engine is not running and the fact that the interference disappears when you put your foot on the break, makes me think that the interference is being aided by a poor connection or poor ground either electrically or antenna.

Your radio appears to be working fine most times, except in a certain section of the am band when the engine is off. You can try clamping a braided strap from the radio metal casing to a good grounding point on the cars body, can't guantee it will be the solution, but it might, ferite beads sometimes will help. For further info on that read thru the articles in our interference section at the link bellow...

Yeah, you know that those Canadians are crossing the border like crazy now. We've got to keep an eye on them!
