Hi there

My advice would be to ask the fire dept about a spec for the type of property , especially with it being a business premise.

You will probably find that every county/state will have its own recognition about which type of wiring you should use for any circuits especially fire alarms and emergency lighting which generally have to be wired in MI.

For the essentials such as lights and power romex is generally accepted for any circuits as it is only a hotel serving lights and sockets wired through verticle risers/raceways which are not susceptible to mechanical damage due to the environment.

Hope this helps

Regards

Martyn

This is a multifamily dwelling. .Most states require a state design release for this type building also requiring an engineered set of prints. The State Fire Marshalls office usually will declare the fire rating of this type structure. This fire rating will tell you the wiring style allowed.

If it were me I would contact your state building inspectors office to confirm the rules that apply in your state. You may be bidding on a project with general contractor unaware of the rules of your state. Cover yourself by contacting the State building inspectors office to confirm what you need to do in your State and county.

Be careful
