In Ohio we call this "run the heat and the AC in your car on the same day" season.

Uh-huh... this is the time of the year where I get dozens of panicked phonecalls from people who forget to flick the little switch on their thermostat from cooling to heating.

easy to do
I was in Myrtle Beach last summer during the hottest week of the year. I took a 10,000 btu window unit and placed it on a crate by the tent and taped it to the second tent entrance.
It may not have cooled the tent, but the cold air blowing on us made it comfortable to sleep. I noticed others in the campground with various setups through windows and doors on their tents.

What ever happened to roughing it...
That is funny, but this is a reason I don't do much camping. Log cabins work just fine.

We use Ac units for our tents but they draw so much power we usually have a 30k gen run 2 of them and can only put a couple more circuits for about 80% draw. So, my point is, the ones we use are pretty big but they do sure feel good.
Here is one that I found that seems to be pretty neat.

use the water method
camp near a water body. even at night with onshore effect, the breeze should help.
