Default Maytag Dishwasher does not spray water

Hi. I have a Maytag Dishwasher, model MDBD880AWW, that has stopped spaying water. I ran the rinse only cycle to see what is wrong, and it fills up in the bottom, then makes the normal noise it would make when spraying, but nothing happens, then it drains the water out. Everything sounds normal. I do not know much about dishwashers, but am pretty handy if I know what I need to do to fix something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not enough water ( just below the element ), pump filter clogged up, split in the spray arm, discharge housing broken, pump impellor split/broken, spray arm binding on it's support are some common trouble makers. Time to remove the spray arm and check the filter and housing as a place to start.

#34 unscrews off to remove the spray arm to access the pump assy.

Thanks. I know we have really hard water, so I will tear it apart, clean it all out and see if anything look broken. - Jeff

Have seen the filter and spray arm holes clogged up with the whiting from hard water....a few I was able to scrape clean and some HAD to have parts changed the coating was so thick.

Thanks. Yea, it was all pretty gunked up, so I cleaned it all, and put in a new impeller & seal kit, put it all back together and it works fine now. Thanks for the help. - jeff

    Hi Jeff,

    thats very helpful. Thanks.

But how do i get part #11 off? I removed the three screws around the edge and it comes up partially and will rotate maybe 15 degrees back and forwards from there but no further and wil only come up about 1/4 inch.

There doesn't seem to be any other screws in the center.
What could be the hold up?

    All help much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Johnnie

    Never mind
It was stuck top to the next part with hard water buildup. A simple twist of a flat blade screwdriver in the side slot lifted it of. Tham-nks for this forum guys.
