Thread: kenmore dryer won't shut off

Default kenmore dryer won't shut off

I have a kenmore dryer series 90. When I set timer to dry for 60 minutes (any time for that matter) it runs the full 60 minutes but does not turn off. It will just keep running and running. The knob that is supposed to show the timer decreasing in remaining time left does not move at all. What is wrong and how do I fix it. I already looked in parts list and there is no mention of timers. Please help with this problem, My clothes are getting too tight to wear!..... thanks

    Hi,

The knob that is supposed to show the timer decreasing in remaining time left does not move at all.
If the timer knob does not move at all and just stays where ever you set it.....usually this indicates a bad timer.

it runs the full 60 minutes but does not turn off
Will the dryer shut off if you manually move the timer to the "off" position?

    Hi,

I got 110.66902690 to work for me. A whirlpool built Kenmore.

The knob that is supposed to show the timer decreasing in remaining time left does not move at all.
If the timer knob does not move at all and just stays where ever you set it.....usually this indicates a bad timer.
If you have a volt meter, *carefully* check for power ( usually 110-120 volts AC ) to the timer motor ( 2 small black wires ) with the dryer running in the timed dry mode.....power there and no movement/advancing = new timer time.

Default How do you replace the timer?

    Hi,
I have been following this thread and I have the exact same problem.

I have a Kenmore serices 90 dryer. The modle # on mine is:
    66912691 66912

I was able to remove the top console but couldn't get to the timer.

Is there anywhere I can instructions for replacing the timer and how difficult is it on a scal of 1-10?

    Thanks

Whirlpool/Kenmore Dryer Repair Manual, covers two and four roller gas or electric dryers

Consol end caps should come off to expose a couple of screws and the consol will tilt up...power off first!
