    Default Wood stove

    Have an old circulater wood stove, going to use it in the basement, (NEPA ) can I remove the cover around the stove, really don't need it for what I need it for? Looks to be decrotive not funtional. Thank you.

    it could be to keep a minimum distance from combustibles. If it's removed and something falls against it it could start a fire. You would need to find a manual for this stove. It will specify if those covers are optional. Make sure it's not part of ducting to move air around the firebox.

    Also if there is a fire that starts in that general area and the insurance inspector sees it (and the covers are not safe to remove), they could use it as a 'reason' to fight your insurance coverage.
