    Default T1-11 Siding Repair

I have an interesting situation, with many possible solutions, and am looking for advise. Basically, I have a cottage that is sided with T1-11. It is two stories, so I have horizontal seams between sheets. One area where two seams meet has been damaged by carpenter ants. I plan to cut out this section and replace the damaged sheeting. I have several ideas for sealing the new horizontal joints. The groves in T1-11 make this problematic, caulking doesn't work long-term, trust me. So I'm looking to hear other suggestions. Z-channel, ice dam membrane, other roofing product, etc.?

Z channel is the correct option for T1-11 seaming.
Hint. paint the bottom edge of the T1-11 before installation, it will help with potential moisture issues that are frequent with end edges.
