Thread: Heat Pump Relocation & Disconnect Wiring

Default Heat Pump Relocation & Disconnect Wiring

I plan on having an HVAC co. relocate my heat pump to another location. My earlier post, "Heat Pump Disconnect Wiring", explained that I now have #6AWG connected to #8AWG at a junction box that continues to the disconnect. I now have the opportunity to eliminate the junction box and wire the #6AWG directly to the disconnect. What I need to know is can I run #6AWG (instead of the existing #8 AWG) in the electrical whip from the disconnect to the heat pump?

If the lugs in the disconnect and the heat pump can take #6 wire, then yes you can. I would expect both lugs to be able to take a #6 conductor.

"I'm assuming you are planning to run 3/4 LFNC or .............. ???"

    Absolutely, and strictly to code.
