Just wondering your thoughts on installing a click-n-lock wood laminate flooring over an existing 12x12 ceramic floor tile? I've worked with the laminate in my basement, but that was over smooth concrete. This certainly involves grout lines and such, but the floor is down solid, and the laminate really does float over the rubber underalyment......

Anyone ever try it? Any success? Failure? What should I be considering that I am not?

Thanks for the input....

In my experience it works fine, but for only the short term. The laminate is quite thin and is subject to "molding" to the underlay. In other words you may get a wave or grid patern developing over time. Worst case, in high traffic areas you'll find faster than usual wear, coming from the bottom up.

why not use some plaster/floor leveler to fill in the grout lines and get a smooth floor? shouldn't cost much or take too much effort.
