View Full Version : Can I make an Adjustable Solar Pump for Feng Shui Fountain?

We make Feng Shui tabletop fountains. We don't have electricity in the front of the house, and we want to display a feng shui fountain there. So I guess we would need a solar pump that would pump at night also. The fountain would need a pump about 65 gallons per hour. Don't know exactly how to describe what I need - (being I'm sooo inexperienced at electrical/garden wording), but we've been unsuccessful in purchasing a solar driven pump (approximate 65 gallons per hour). We purchased one recently that they said was adjustable, but it wasn't, and it really didn't work. If you know of one, that would be great.

So maybe it's a solar pump with battery. Anyway, the landscaping store said some people are able to make such a pump. Is this an impossible task.

Thanks. Yentakaren compute_1

If you can live with a pump that only works in direct sunlight (i.e. no water flow when cloudy or at night), then you can just install a solar panel that is large enough to run a 12VDC pump motor and skip the battery and regulator.

Finding a 12 VDC 65 GPH pump is the key, and 65 GPH shouldn't require a huge pump.

If this must go 24/7, you're going to have a much more complicated and larger system.

Thanks Mark. Yes, I'm seeing that if I want that it gets more and more complicated. We're seeing if our development will allow us to put some electric in the front and go that way. The association is kind of strict - so hopefully they'll let us go that way. If not, we'll figure somethng else out.

Thanks.
