i've recently saved an old door in an old house and have used it in another location. so i bought a jamb kit, chisseled out the hinges (of course this is after several measurments), shimmed and ultimately installed the door. it works great, except I only have two inch finish nails going through the jamb/shims into the studs. aside from the screws that are holding the hinges in place (which also go into the studs) is this enough to hold everything in place or should i drive a few screws or nails into the jamb to secure it. such as 3" exterior screws...??? thanks!!!

I think you may want to use at least 8d finish or casing nails (half an inch longer, and a heavier nail). I'd put 2 about every 12 to 18 inches making sure to get within 6" of the top and bottom. If this is an entry door you're worried about getting kicked in, you may want to nail even more often

not an entry door. just a door i moved from a closet to serve as a door for a bathroom. i'll go with the 8d or casing nails and go every foot. that should do me. thanks
