I was wanting to know some advice on parging a basement exterior wall, we have a foundation with many cosmetic flaws, the foundation was constructed in 1940 and has settled. we we will be replacing the broken mortar and cracks and want to give it a smooth finish , but I cannot find much info online.

Can anyone give some of the basic steps to getting this project started thank you :)

You can buy from Lowes/H.Depot a product in the cement section called Quickwall. This is (when dry) a water resistant product, once mixed it goes on like plaster and is troweled smooth, it is fiber reinforced and can be used to set block walls without the use of motor. Very often used in concrete fish ponds layered over the rough concrete to form a smooth free form pond that resists any seepage.
