Hi, I can't figure out what might be the cause of my 87 Ford van not getting any fuel. It ran relatively fine and then wouldn't roll over one morning. It seemed to start right after I had changed out the spark plugs only. I've already ruled out the fuel pump, the fuel injector, etc., and I suspect it might be the fuel pump relay, but I don't know where it's located - not shown in the manual that came with the van. I have three questions:
Would the fuel pump relay be the most likely problem?
Where is the relay located?
Does anyone know if there are other typical problems associated with this vehicle make and model for fuel problems?
Thanks for any and all input!

Take the fuel line off the carb. Turn on ignition only. If you get fuel problem not fuel getting to carb. If no fuel first suspect fuel filter in line. Reconnect fuel line to carb and break line side connection to fuel filter. Retest for fuel flow with ignition on. Keep going back the line to the gas tank testing where you can.
Fuel pump is normally controlled by computer, then electronic sensors.
Sure you just don't have a blown fuse?
Have you checked for any reports on your electronic system?

The E-series trucks followed the same engineering changes that the F-series did for the most part. With that in mind there would be little chance of there being a carburator on an 87 model especially if it has a 5.0 (302) in it. Fuel pressure can be checked with a fuel pressure gauge at the shrader valve( tire stem type) on the fuel injection rail(driver's side between the #1 &2 injectors). DON'T do this with the engine HOT!
The FP relay will be located under the hood somewhere. Most likely against the upper radiator cross-member or along the side near the inner fender.
Your 87 is most likely an EEC-IV computer-driven engine so you can pull the computer codes which will help pinpoint the problem without wasting time and money guessing
There are two places to get fast accurate info on these types of problems. www.fordfuelinjection.com and www.ford-trucks.com
