Vapor Barrier

Does anybody know what would be the best method for sealing a vapor barrier off? Right now I just installed one in my crawlspace and I have the footing that sticks out about 6 inches. So I put some bricks on there for now but I was thinking of putting some wood down, screwing it to the footing, then stapling the barrier to the wood... I dont know can anybody tell me what would be the best way to do this?

If the vapor barrier goes all the way from footing to footing then a simple solution as a couple of bricks or rocks to help hold it down to the outside is fine, if your really concerned about it buy yourself a couple of bags of small pea gravel form a large hardware store and pour this on the edges all the way around.
