For any of you guys that do warranty work, I'm sure you have had many complaints on refrigerators making the clicking noise during the first few minute of start up. In my experience its most common of Frigidaires and the Amana side-by-sides and the Maytags built on the Amana chassis.
One thing I have found out that can minimize the noise, and in many cases eleminate it all together, is to move the dryer to a flat horizontal position. With it on its side it will act as an accumulator and let the liquid refrigerant build up in the bottom of the dryer until the flow smoothes out and it can go in to the cap tube. I have done it to literally hundreds of refrigerators and on check-up calls customers have said there was a great improvement. I would say 80% said the noise has stopped, while the others said it was significantly quieter and for a much shorter peroid of time.
It sure is easier than pulling some refrigerant out and replacing it with hydrogen as Frigidaire tech bullitin suggests.
