Looking for a dry weed killer to apply to about 1.25 acres that can be applied with a fertilizer spreader. I dont want to put fertilizer down as this grass grows too fast as it is (and is healthy). I dont have enough garden hoses to reach this area to put something like Weed-B-Gone down.
Ive seen dry weed n feeds, and feeds, but no dry weed control. DOes it exist?

It does exist, but not in the consumer stores. I used to apply dry granule herbicide called Prometon. It is a pre-emergent herbicide and worked for 1 to 2 years on bare soil. I think the utility companies might use it around their electric substations. I can't find this anymore in California stores. Since you have a large acreage to do, I'd go to the farm suppliers to get the product. In some states this may require a license to buy and/or apply it.

I say buy a couple of 50 pound bags of weed and feed, pour them into a big bucket, sit down and hand pick out the herbicide grains.

You arent far away... wanna come up and do that for me? Probably only have 3 or so bags to go through. If you get done before dark, I may even get you a beer.
Not gonna mess with anything I need a lisence for. Our water already will just about kill anything it gets sprayed on. The stuff almost glows in teh dark (weve had a river catch on fire up here before)
Just wonderin if tehre was something readily available. Looks like i eithier need to buy a few hundred feet of garden hose, a sprayer for my mower, or hire someone to mow it 2-3 times a week like my neighbor does (feeds his yard heavily)

Mr. T, I can't vouch for the effectiveness since I've never used it myself, but I have heard that corn gluten is an effective weed killer. It's a pre-emergent though, so it won't kill any weeds that have already sprouted up. It is organic which is a plus. Here is a link I found:

Wish I had 1.25 acres to worry about! The dogs have killed almost all the grass in my small (0.15 acre) lawn. The weeds, however, continue to thrive.

way too late for that here....
If we get a hot / dry summer, most of the grass in our back field dies off for the summer... all thats out there is a few weeks. I got one of those 'golf club' /swing weed trimmers (blade on a stick). Takes me 5 minutes to mow the whole yard then....
