Hey all, I moved down here to Florida a few months back. I brought my phone with me and when I plugged it in it didn't work. I recall hearing a long time ago about there being a difference between the two countries in regard to the wiring, but I haven't had any luck finding anything. Does anyone know anything about this or how to change it if it is possible? I should also say it's not a huge deal, my phone is almost brand new and I hate to chuck it out if it's a rather simple fix.
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it is a phone jack and not a network jack? Does the jack work with an American phone? I thought they were the same and would have expected it to work.

Ya it's a normal phone jack and American phone works fine. I can't remember exactly what the difference was, but there was one although very minor.

Could be as simple as how the plug is wired. On a standard US phone, the two center contacts are used and wired with the red and green or blue and white/blue wires. Maybe Canada uses the outer two contacts?

Nope. In Canada we use the middle two wires for one line phone. Usually red and green or the blue pair in cat 5 cable.
Are you sure the Canadian phone actually works? Is it a regular analog phone or a digital phone form a office? Digital phone will not work on an analog line.
