Can't say if I ever heard of anyone actually house cat hunting!
BUT! cats were always open targets,IF they were say aprox a mile from a farmers Barn. They KILL many upland birds, mainly Pheasants.
The same held true if dogs were seen running after deer, they too were open targets.
I wish in our area that they would allow the shooting of fishers. Not only do they kill wildlife they will attack humans, when defending themselves they do not always turn and run. By the way cats! are there favorite food, so watch Garfield when you put him out on his leash, folks here came to let Garfield back in the house and only half of Garfield was left.
Imagine being on your deer stand calling out "here Bucky, Bucky" cats tend to fall for it every time."Here kitty, kitty"
It would not surprise me one bit!!!

Follow up on this one. Just did a fish fry last night and somehow this topic came up and one of the guys mentioned that right now in the state of Wisconsin, they are adapting a hunting season?permit? for cats in the wild.He did'nt know any of the facts to go along with this topic, but it's in the making. By the way they kill plenty of rabbits too! Meoooow
