When installing kraft faced wall insulation, does it make any difference if you staple it to the face of the studs (paper overlaping) or to the sides of the studs, so that the face is fully visible? Or is this just a installers preference?

I've heard that the sheet-rocker's like it better if you staple to the sides.

In THEORY, you should get a better vapor seal by the overlap method. But, you can also get a bulge of the insulation when done this way... and also if the sheetrockers like to use PL-200 on the studs, as well, as screws or nails, to cut down on the number of fasteners, they will be uckfayed by the overlap method. :)
