I've installed a 2" pipe for a second kitchen sink in our basement (main kitchen upstairs). The pipe is on a fairly shallow slope down to the main drain stack for the house; there was a cleanout which I removed and put in a cleanout extension with a 45-degree bend and a reducer, so the cleanout is still there, but this 2" pipe now feeds into the "side" of it.
Anyway, I wanted to know if there are any code (or even practical) requirements to enable me to put a disposal in. I've verified there's enough slope in the pipe to drain water adequately (by putting a 90-deg elbow on it and pouring in most of a 5-gal bucket of water very quickly). Is that sufficient for a disposal or are there specific slope and/or trap requirements?
Thanks,
Rich
