Anyone have a suggestion for a 3/8 torque wrench (besides Sears).

Would need something in the "In. lbs" range.

Thanks,
Ed

After I broke my Craftsman ft/lb torque wrench, and found out that the Craftsman warranty covers everything except torque wrenches, I swore I'd never buy another.

My in/lb torque wrench is Klein. Pretty nice, and actually guaranteed. For the same money, though, you can buy a Snap-on or a MAC too.

Thanks for the Input MD........I will check them out.
I might be doing some real electrical stuff down the line.

If that's the case, then you probably should check out Klein's torque kit. That's what my inch pound wrench is a part of. Has ft/lb and in/lb torque wrenches and a torque screwdriver (along with extensions and bits/sockets and such), in a nice foam insert toolbox. Runs a little over a grand for the whole kit, if memory serves. Naturally, you can just buy the inch/pound torque wrench. You'll notice the Klein wrenches are 7/16" hex drive, as is the power/utility standard for most tools.

If you're gonna be doing any hot work, the Cementex inch/pound torque wrenches are the only thing worth talking about. They are regular 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 drive, like a standard socket set. I have some Cementex hot work tools, and they are tops.

I had the micrometer adjustable type. It has a lock collar that you twist, dial in the torque, then click the lock collar back. The lock collar split, probably from sitting it down too hard, but I'm not really sure. The wrench is still techincally useable, but you have to be careful you don't change the setting while you're using the wrench, since the lock collar doesn't lock in.
