What is best insulation for crawl space over dirt floor (two feet is height)- lots of moisture. Also will be installing vapor barrier. Do you install up to outside wall or leave breathing space? Thanks Annette

The vapor barrier (plastic sheating) should be installed from wall to wall of the crawl space, you don't want any "breathing space" as this will allow the moisture to escape. As for the insulation in the floor joist you must use "Faced" insulation, meaning it has also a built in vapor barrier being the paper that is attached to one side of the insulation. Make sure that the paper side faces the living area ie: in a floor the paper side is up towards the room. Most hardware stores will have insulation wires that you can buy by the box that span from floor joist to floor joist to help hold the insulation in place.
Remember to cover up as much of your body as you can and wear a face mask when istalling insulation.
