I was originally posting in the septic tank forum, but my problems have increased. To keep a long story short, our kitchen sink and dishwasher are draining out of a hole in an old cast iron pipe right onto the ground under the house. The toilet drain is also cast iron and leaking so I am going to replace everything.
I went to Lowes today to get some supplies. One of the people in the plumbing department says that I can't use Schedule 40 PVC pipe underground and that I should use Schedule 30 PVC pipe to comply with code. The Schedule 30 pipe looks thinner than the 40 and is much cheaper. According to the Building Code site for Florida (http://www2.iccsafe.org/states/2004_florida_codes) Schedule 40 is the lowest schedule mentioned for drains, but it doesn't say whether it can go underground or not. Schedule 30 isn't even mentioned. Which one should I use? Many thanks in advance.
