Daisy Chain Question

I know it's not a good idea to daisy chain but I'm running wire in new construction and the contractor has already daisy chained most of the phone wire. I am going to run my own phone wire to the basement to save some money. Will my phone work if I have two lines chain off of 1 jack. For example right now my kitchen phone line daisy chains to the great room. Can I add another wire to make that line chain to the great room and my basement? If that is possible it would save me a ton of time.

Daisy Chaining is not the best way to wire a home. But, many electricians and electrical companies have been doing this for years, and they still are. If you want to come off another jack to get to another room, then this should be fine. But, if you can run that wire to the ouside of your home--seeing that you do not have a low voltage panel-- then this would be best.
