Any suggestions?

I solvent welded a single, 1 1/2 inch compression fitting to my stub out and installed all of my cabinets prior to learning that per local code I need a trap for each bowl of my double bowl sink if I am going to have a garbage disposal. The gents at Homers suggested a 3 X 1 wye with a plug in the center outlet, but I only have about 3/4 of an inch of excess pipe.

Would I be able to put some type of threaded connector on the existing fitting and then weld on the wye? Or is there something else that would work short of not installing the disposer? Thanks.

I don't know what state you reside in but in KY you cannot double trap a kitchen sink. This applies for many states across the US......just wandering why they are requiring it........the reason for such as well.

I'm not a plumber.

Why can't you double trap a kitchen sink?

Because it serves no purpose, traps are installed in DWV systems to protect the fixture from sewer gases/foul air to escape.

Dual sinks at the most are 12" apart, no need to trap. Same reason there is only one pipe serving the kitchen sink as the drain,

Same as a dual bay utility tub,

Same as a 3 compartment sink in a commercial restaurant

Same reason a 3 compartment sink in a residential application doesn't have 3 individual traps; the logic is that the faucet serves both/three bays. Not used in a manner where all 2 or 3 are used at the same time. The norm is hold water on one side, the other side open for rinse/grinding of vegetation.

The reason a double bowl vanity has to be trapped is because of the distance from trap to vent. If it goes beyond a certain distance, the vents are ran separate shared into a cross tee for the drain.

I was not planning on a trap for each basin, but ran accross some infio that said I might need to. I called the local building inspector, and sure enough, I have to have one in my city. Go figure??

Thanks.
