Installed 8' (4 - 4' lamps) T8 fixture in the shop and now radio (FM only) just has a buzz. Ran a wire direct to ground and didn't help. I've had this on thre forums with no reply. Can someone explain this phenomenom (sp)?:???:

Somebody with more expertise than me will probably reply, but we need more info. Is the FM using an outside antenna, and are you trying to get a distant station? Does the FM have any external speakers attached? Try to isolate the problem by removing lights until the noise stops. Plug the radio into another circuit and see if that helps. These flourescent lights are great big arcs which produce lots of radio frequency noise but they usually have suppressors to get rid of it. My shop has 6 flourescent lights and my FM radio is running off a dipole antenna attached to the inside wall, with no problems from the lights.

Check this link, I assume the lights you got are Fluorescent , click on "Fluorescent and neon lights " sample at the above link to see if this is what you are hearing.

Do the checks as "removeb4flight" mentioned. If you have several flourescent ficture in the room, try removing lights, to see if one perticular fixture or bulb is causing it, and repost with further info.
