I recently purchased a home that is 15 years old/young. The garbage disposer failed so I purchased a new one. I noticed the water lines to the sink had been leaking in the past so I figured that now was the time to change the supply lines too. I used flexible braided supply lines. The sprayer for the faucet was also broken so I changed that too. I had the water off to the faucet for several hours while I changed all these components. After I was "finished" I ran the water to check for leaks and to my surprise, there were no leaks! Everything worked.. well almost. When I turned on the water, the faucet jumps and sometimes no water comes out the spout for a few seconds. It seems to happen to the hot water more than the cold. Sometimes while the water is running the faucet briefly stops flow to the spout. The new sprayer sometimes leaks out the sprayer when the spayer is not in use. I removed the diverter valve and soaked it in 50/50 vinegar solution and also ran water through the spout without the diverter valve to clear any possible debris since the water was off for several hours?

Is there debris stuck in the faucet? If so, where is the debris and what's the best way to remove it?

Is the diverter valve faulty? If so, why now? Seems strange for it to fail at the same time I'm working on everything else.

Could the supply shutoff valves have finally gone bad?

Thanks in advance for you help!

It sounds as if you hooked up the supply lines to the wrong inlets.

This is common when you have a faucet type assembly that has all inlets coming through one single hole.
