I have deleted the menu to the main site from the top of forums, and have added a new menu system on a right column to forums, along with an ' electrician finder' search, it still has a lot of work to complete on the right column but it will get there. So some changes will still be happining with the right column
For those whose use 800 x 600 screen resolution , you will see on most pages at least half of the right column, on higher screen resolutions, you will will seee everything without scrolling. I have narrow the forum area some so that those using low resolution displays will see more of it without scrolling.

I dont like.. i run 1280x1024 and I cant see full sentences on the forum names at the main page.
I'd suggest putting the menus on the left, and setting the main window (this one) to take up all remaining space. (easy CSS tweak). It will get what you want and not leave too much white space.
THe smilies list is twice the size of the post window (should make XK happy). And mr. Sniper doesnt even fit in that window.

I think I will leave it on the right side and not move it to the left, I did try and change the 100% width float to a fix pixel width which seem to have widended the forum title cell.
For those that use 800 x 600 screen resolution, you see part of the right column and can scroll over to see it all, at any higher resolution you see it all without scrolling. I use 1024 x 768 screen resolution, and looks ok to me.
The common complaint before was that people with lower screen resolutions did not want to be constantly scrolling over to see the forum content. With it being a right column, the forum content should default, and you only need to scroll to see the entire right column (for low screen resolutions only).
Also it is the first time I have been able to get the electrician finder code to work with the forums page, when I tried it in another location, it interfered with the login / logout code of the forums, but where it is now, everything seems to be working ok with no conflicts.
I intend on using that entire space on the right column down to end of the forums listings, that may for thread viewing have the right colomn entend far below the thread view depending on the length of the thread, number of posts...
I would prefer formating with only higher than 800 x 600 screen resolutions in mind, but sort of have to try to meet those users half way that still use the 800 x 600 resolution.

The new menus are really starting to shape up, there is still a few template pages I have to adjust from a % float size to a fix pixel width to prevent the right column from squeezing narrow another section, but were getting there.

I see that you've also started to build the link to the "America's Most Wanted" site. I see that you've already got pictures posted of the two most wanted guys at the bottom of the right hand column.

I still do not like how crunched everything in the main window is. Can you tweak font sizes? It creates much more scrolling do to everything wrapping over to 2 lines. I just noticed that the reply/post screen is further to the right then the rest and is decent.
Also I find that animated gif for appliance aid VERY annoying and distracting.

I think the menu on the right is more noticable...possibly some people didn't even see it on top & now will be used more. the red border makes it stand out. I'm not sure what my resolution is...I still have a 1/2" blank space on the right side of the menu.
:p Nice Work, Doncompute_1
P.S.
after you get this project all sorted out...take a break for awhile, and then we'll work on a new smiley page:D
Maybe get Mr T more than 4 snipers per post...how about a reversed sniper so he can shoot in both directions?
...and get back animated avatars...up the size a little, too!bow_1

As far as I know there are no timers on, but let me know if it continues, or if anyone see experience the same.
As far as font sizes go, I don't think we want to make the fonts any smaller, some of us don't have the best of monitors or eyesight, and Ithink it is small enough for now.
The animated Appliance aid banner will be changed, but it was the only one that I had on hand at the moment, have to make another one, it takes up too much vertical space, want to get it about the size between the easy2diy or electrical safety banner sizes.
There is far more links now on the right than there were before with the top menu.
