:?: Considering running a 2" black pipe through the attic of my residence down the exterior wall to the ground. From that point I'd like to transition to PE pipe. (1) Are fittings made to transition from black pipe to PE pipe? (2) I had heard that sunlight will severly damage PE pipe, so (logically thinking) the transition must happen underground or there must be some protective cover that is placed over the above-ground portion of the PE pipe, correct? (3) If it must happen underground, are there specifications that say how far underground this must occur? If it can happen above ground, what protective measures are recommended? Thanks for your time.

24" into the ground and a Normac Riser has a sleeve that protects the PE piping coming up to the foundation brackets that hold the meter in place.

To question #1, they make a compression fitting that goes from PE to IPS threads to allow for transition, this is part of the Normac Riser kit as well.

That sleeve is about 3 to 4 feet long. Do not run the tracer wire inside of this sleeve.

Sorry for the delay of no response to your question.:( crash_!
