Article 422-12 calls for an individual branch circuit for "central heating equipment other than fixed electric space-heating equipment". Is this referring to an oil furnace (or something similar)? It's in the "Appliance" section of the code which is why I'm wondering. I guess what I'm really asking is just what all equipment is considered "central heating equipment" that would require an individual circuit?

Thanx,

This rule applies to all main heating systems of a structure. Oil, gas are required to be dedicated circuits. Be aware any associated equipment being part of that heating system is allowed on that same dedicated central heating circuit.

Good Luck
