Just a quick question on installing insulation. Shud the insulation be installed against the inner wall or recessed slightly to form an air pocket on both sides of the insulation??? Also how far apart shud the insulation be stapled??

The entire wall cavity should be filled with what is called friction batt insulation for studs, no paper. Then a sheet of plastic from a roll that will cover the wall from top to bottom on the inside wall. On the outside before you install brick veneer or siding you should install what is called tyvek material that will breath out not in. The above will meet the insulation requirements of the IRC.
Check local rules for energy efficiency. May have local rules that apply.
Stuff fiberglass insulation with a butter knife filling all cracks [in framing] around all doors and windows.
If you blow insulation in your attic be sure to install the foam shutes in the low side of the attic where the attic meets the soffitt so that when the blowen insulation is installed there is a air shute from soffitts to attic area.
In crawl space 2" blue board styrofoam insulation against the foundation wall from floor of crawl to floor joists. Then use paper back in fiber glass insulation to stuff between the floor joists against the band board.
Install plastic vapor barrier on floor of crawl space to limit moisture from entering home from earth.
Hope this gives some ideas.
