Can anyone give an example of a code required generator and wiring system that would require compliance with Article 701 in leiu of 700. I can't put my finger on when 701 would be applied?

Handbook commentary;
Legally required standby systems are intended to provide electric power to aid in fire fighting, rescue operations, control of health hazards, and similar operations. In comparison, emergency systems (see Article 700) are those systems essential for safety to life. Optional standby systems (see Article 702) are those in which failure can cause physical discomfort, serious interruption of an industrial process, damage to process equipment, or disruption of business, for example.
Examples;
701 LEgally required [either due to size or use pertaining to amount of safety concern] Some governmental or health care facilities are legally required to have back up power. These legally required must change auto to stand by power within a certain amount of time limit.
Jails, hospitals, fire departments, police departments, emergency management offices all would be controlled by 701.
702 would pertain to voluntary such as homes or non essential business stand by power systems.
700 Emergency stand by systems;
Governmental offices such as city hall, County Court house, Mayors office, Inspectors office. These are emergency governmental stations but if power is delayed in creating stand by power [such as manually started by maintenance peoplr].
All depends on if the plans approved calls for [legally required] or [emergency required] Different levels of need for stand by power.
Imagine doctors in an operation when power fails versus the inspectors office not having lights.
Normally the State Fire marshall's office declares the occupancy rating of a building as well as status of stand by power whether emergency, legally required, or optional stand by power.
Hope this helps
