I'm in the process of installing a kitchen. The new sink will be under a window and all plumbing going down to the basement. My question is, can I put the trap in the basement with an AAV for convienence or does it have to be on the same floor? There is no way to run a standard vent.

Thanks in advance
Mark

Copied section of IRC 2000

P3201.6 Number of fixtures per trap. Each plumbing fixture
shall be separately trapped by a water seal trap placed as close
as possible to the fixture outlet. The vertical distance from the
fixture outlet to the trap weir shall not exceed 24 inches (610
mm). The distance of a clothes washer standpipe above a trap
shall conform to Section P2706.2. Fixtures shall not be double
trapped.

Notice the limtations above. This is the rule that applies. You may use a AAV if you feel you need to.

Hope this helps
