I have a small green house Im getting ready for next spring. I used an electric heater at first but was costly. then I used unvented N gas but the fumes made my plants sick so I vented it. I decided I would go to heater core style. I have a core "6x10" in size with a built in fan. I have the heating thermastat installed already. I layed pipes from my garage, two 3/8 in size copper winding in a "3" inch poly pipe insalated two yards from the green house to the garage burried and hooked up to the coil in the green house. I have a N gas hook up ready to be used. What type of heating unit should I use for this set up? Is it possible to find something small to use for this set up? Or should I use a gas water heater with a sm pump? Any knowlege would help.

Most greenhouses I have seen install a hanging vented gas forced are furnace. Any heat you use will be expensive if you keep the heat at high growth temperature. Glass or plastic has little insulating value.

If you have tables for you plants insulate the ground using blue board and a plastic vapor barrier with bat or friction fiberglass insulation below the tables on the outside walls. That should significantly lower you heat bills and keep you plants happy. Keep you plants pretty high where the heat is highest.

Hope this helps
