Hi, please help me fix this myself, lol. We are in Ontario and our house is 30+ years old. My husband installed a new light fixture in the kitchen to replace an outdated (ugly) fixture and when we (he) turned the power back on and switched the light ON, the fuse blew. He did some changes to the wires connecting the light fixture and blew another fuse. So .. he figured that something was wrong with the SWITCH and changed that .. another fuse blew. Three or four hours later, after "HIM" doing numerous adjustments and "blowing" at least a dozen fuses, we have a beautiful new light fixture installed but "unwired" because HE gave up.
HE told me that the (3) wires in the ceiling are white, black and red and that the (2) wires in the wall for the switch are red and black.
I have printed off your instructions re Basic Light/Switch as I want to "do it myself", vbg but I, while being extremely "handy", like to make sure I know what I am doing because I don't need any "static" if things go wrong, lol.
So....... I think I should wire the black and white "live" wires coming from the ceiling to my fixture and ground the red one. It is the "switch" part that I am not clear about. Seems that both the black and red should be connected to the switch box (one live and one ground (red)) but should there be a white wire coming from the wall that I have to deal with?
I would really appreciate your help.
