:D Was wondering if you can adapt a 4 wire heavy duty plug for a Kiln which has no motor just heating coils over to a heavy duty 3 wire plug like a electric range... I have no 4 post recept. in my garage but I do have a 3 wire 50amp circuit available ??

If the kiln has 120 volt components then you are required to use a four wire branch circuit and four prong receptacle. 120 volts uses a white current carrying neutral conductor to serve 120 from only one of the two hot wires. Never use a green or bare wire as a current carrying neutral for a kiln.
If your kiln has no white neutral wire in its connections inside the kiln and has no 120 volt components such as clocks, light bulbs etc. then you may use a three prong receptacle. Do not do this is the cord on that kiln came with the kiln when new because it is then saying somewhere inside that kiln there is 120 volt components using that white neutral wire of that factory installed kiln cord.
Hope this helps
