I am installing vinyl cove base molding in a building I am working in. 500 ft. of the stuff. I have removed the old and scraped what I could of the old adhesive. We have purchased 100 ft. rolls. What is the correct way to do outside and inside corners? I will be using the rolled for the corners, not pre made corner pieces. Any tips are appreciated. do I make corner pieces for all corners or can I just run a longer section around a corner? What if I am having problems with the molding adhering, etc...? Thanks in advance!!

I would use a contact type adhesive painting the adhesive on both the trim and the wall. Then when the two surfaces touch its an instant connection.

The corners I would heat so it becomes pliable to better wrap into the corner.

Good Luck and let us know how you come out.

Could the old adhesive have asbestos in it? The building was built in 1971 and the molding has not been changed to my knowledge. The old adhesive is very hard and brittle. It is a very dark brown, almost black in color. I have been informed from several sources that this may be an asbestos based adhesive. Yikes! I am a bit worried because I have been scraping on this stuff for a week now without that information to protect myeslf. Can someone research this and get back to me asap? It would be appreciated.

The only way that I know of for you to confirm your fears are either to take a sample of the glue and glue dust to your local Board of Health for testing or contact the manufacturer of the glue if you know who that is and if you are lucky enough that they are still in business.

Board of Health is the only sure way to confirm any health risks with unknown products and that is by their testing of the product.

Let us know what you find.
