I have a Whirlpool refrigerator model # ed27rqxxw00 with a built in icemaker. The problem is, it doesnt refill with water for some reason. I have filled the tray manually and verified that it does turn the ice out. It actually refilled two times as well, but now im back to square one. Does this sound like a valve problem or a control unit, and wheres a good place to buy whatever part is needed?

Hi,

Does this sound like a valve problem or a control unit

Valve first, control second...and hopefully not both!

If the water valve on the back of the fridge is getting power when the icemaker should be filling, the problem is probably not in the icemaker. In that case a defective water valve could be the problem or a frozen water line which runs to the icemaker.

It may also be possible that there is a problem with the water supply line to the fridge.

wheres a good place to buy whatever part is needed?

Your icemaker is a module style icemaker...

Info on that style and not filling problems.

Hi Jeff, I am not a handyman in this area and new to the forum too so please be tolerate for my ignorance.
I am worse than "after" because I don't even know how to fill the water manually. I have a Kenmore icemaker and it just did not spit out the ice. I have verified that there is water (strong and good flow) from the valve to the frefrigerator. Are the parts you mentioned for the Whirlpool icemaker the same for Kenmore's? :?:

Thanks

Hi,

I don't even know how to fill the water manually

To fill the icemaker manually....take 130 to 150 cc ( 4.5 to 5.0 oz ) of water and just manually pour into the icemaker body ( where those rake fingers are )

I have a Kenmore icemaker and it just did not spit out the ice.

Need to be specific...the icemaker goes but doesn't fill, the icemaker just sits there dead, the icemaker starts a cycles and quits, the icemaker filled with water but won't dump the cubes, ect, ect?

Are the parts you mentioned for the Whirlpool icemaker the same for Kenmore's?

Some are.....Kenmore is made by several different companies...
