After comming back today from my second Sons grad for grade 12 today, I got nabbed my the widow lady next door to have a peek at her "not cold" window a/c.

Cold control was set on the warmest and the air vent control was wide open = very little compressor running and some of the cold air gets blown outside threw the open vent :(

Checked for sweating on the evap coils and reset the controls and all seems to be ok :)

Why do soooooooooooooooo many people mess up those controls??

Q - Will my air conditioner get colder if I open the air vent?

A - No, this opens air door to the outside and actually will allow cold air to escape to the outside making it harder for the a/c to cool your room!

Jeff, seems we spent half our life trying to prove to people we knew something. Now we seem to try to hide the fact we do know something from the many people who you have known for 30 years watching them walk by without a wave till their VCR, Washer, A/C Unit etc. stops working or whips their abilities. Then you get MANY phone calls starting with HEY BUDDY REMEMBER ME, I HAVE THIS ETC. NOT WORKING RIGHT CAN YOU HELP.

You have no idea how many calls I get from long lost BUDDIES that can't figure out how to make their VCR record in a future time of day. Once they got done it wouldn't even play let alone record.

Welcome to the world of technology designed for the laymen to operate.

Ha Ha

Enjoy !

Soooooooooooo true WG!!

I don't mind the widow next door...it's that brother-in-law that you only hear from when they need something...and are never available when YOU need a favour

My lovely wife has a knack for screening my calls
