Just thought this may help some on this forum. I was requested these links for my area and for Code locations you can get Code books. Just for information only.
Building Codes locally [Shelby County] are rules of law adopted by the State of Indiana and called the "2000 International Residential Code" adopted {with Indiana revisions} called the Indiana Residential Code [dwellings only building, plumbing, electrical {along with the NEC} rules], "2000 International Building Code" adopted {with Indiana revisions} called the Indiana Building Code [commercial industrial building only rules], "2000 International Plumbing Code" adopted {with Indiana revisions} called the Indiana Plumbing Code [commercial Plumbing rules], "2002 National Electrical Code" adopted {with Indiana revisions} called the Indiana Electrical Code [dwelling and commercial electrical rules]
These Codes may be purchase on line at the following link.

I suggest you buy the loose leaf version if you want the hard book. I better suggest you buy the CD electronic version of each book if you want a computerized copy with search capability. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST YOU BUYING THE EBOOK VERSION ONLY. While you can have it loaded immediately with a debit card payment if has glitches that kept locking up my computer any time I tried copying a certain rule to email to someone to validate my ruling on a certain subject. I am not satisfied with that EBOOK version. The CD version mailed to you and installed on your computer is much better and much faster to use.
I also suggest that if you buy more than one book other than the NEC version you would get a better deal purchasing the total CD containing the entire selection of the 24 Code books. That is the one I bought for my use and while it takes a bit of time to get if you plan to use more than one code it would be your better buy in my opinion.
The National Electrical Code link to purchase online and sent to you again may be in hard book version or CD electronic computer version may be hit by the following link.

Below is a link to the State of Indiana web site where you can download the Indiana revisions for each Code adopted by the State of Indiana

If you wish to learn electrical for dwellings or for a certain project you are trying to do then below is my electronic signature, Left side of my electronic signature below you can click to enter my web site FREE TO ANYONE There look at the top right for 1999 or 2002 clicks. These two clicks will take you to the last two books I wrote and donated online to anyone in the world to learn from. In all about 2000 pages of two complete electrical self help books written by me is available on my web site. In Indiana the 2002 NEC is rules of law so click on the 2002 side of my web site. Pick the subject you wish from calculations to wiring dwelling etc. As you read you will find mini pictures to view as examples of what I am trying to explain to you as you read through each chapter of the 2002 Self Help Book. Hope it helps you.
The right side of my electronic signature you can click to go there and it is a forum again FREE TO ANYONE where you can post questions and either myself or several other professionals will answer you questions directly to what you need to know on subject from building, plumbing, zoning, septic, even fishing.
One more thing, you have available a GIS web site owned by Shelby County where you can look up an aerial Photo of your land and house including tax information and neighboring owners names and much more. This is new and growing fast again in hopes to better serve Shelby County Residents. I have nothing to do with the making of this site. Thought you might like to know about it though great source of local governmental information to you again FREE.
