Extending copper water supply line with plastic pipe

I am remodeling a bathroom which will require that I extend the existing copper supply lines for both the shower and vanity. I am thinking about extending with plastic pipe because I am not experienced in soldering copper pipe and I believe that plastic will be easier to work with. Is plastic acceptable and what is the best type of connector to use when going from copper to plastic? Absent a better suggestion, I am thinking that I should use compression fittings? Also, with plastic, will I run into any problem when installing a pressure balanced valve in the shower?

Both copper and plastic fixture supply tubes are readily available. YOu will need a faucet wrench to get to the nuts under the faucet inside the sink. This faucet wrench is also a readily available and affordable.

The top and bottom of your supply tube is normally wrench installed.

You can buy different lengths of fill tubes. I suggest you buy a new fill tube long enough to reach the copper piping. The copper piping should have a threaded end on it ready to accept the fill tube even using metal fill tubes without soldering.
