Would like to check my high and low pressures on ac unit, I have the gauges and some basic knowledge. My question is when checking pressures do I turn the unit on or can I leave the unit off. The gauges I have has three hoses, do I open the valves when checking the pressures?

There is a lot more to what you are attempting than you seem aware of. I advise you to contact a contractor licensed to reclaim and reload you system. What you are doing requires a license and advise you contact a licensed heating / cooling company to do it properly.

Do you have the book to tell you what the high side and low side is supposed to be. Can you vacate the system and reload, locate leakage?

I would hire a pro or you may be getting hot this summer.

Just my opinion
