can romex 12/2 gauge wire be run above a door

THe only way I can get my wiring into a wall is to run the line above the door in the framing above the door?. The wall is unfinished. I seems to me that this would not be a problem at all. has anyone ever heard that it is not allowed to do such a thing. :?:

Yes as long as you have no concern for changing the strenth of the span over that door such as drilling a beam or header. If you have studs above the door then you are fine with what you are thinking.
