We own an electric stove and it doesn't fully heat. It gets to maybe 275 degrees. Any ideas as to what is wrong and what it would cost to repair? Instead of repairing, we are considering purchasing a new one but I want to have an idea of the cost comparison of repair vs new.

If you are talking about your oven temp I suspect your oven thremostat has become inaccurate. Many ovens have temp controls designed much different than others. Some oven thermostats have a built in thermocouple all as one unit and is mecanically operated by that attached thermocouple. Some oven thermostats are electrically operated using an electronic temp sensor.

Only way to know for sure is to write down the make and model of your stove and write down the model number and just in case your serial number of your stove. Then call your local parts dealer for your make and model of your store and ask for a quote on a replacement thermo controller. Ask which type your oven has and ask for the replacement part cost. Then you can make an informed decision on whether you want to replace the stove.

Consider the age of this cooking stove also when you make your decision.

Good Luck
