Either light socket must have the black wire connected to the brass screw and the white wire connected to the silver screw.

The two pole switch is connected only to the black hot wire. The black of your cord will connect to the one odd colored screw as power coming in. The black going to one light socket connect to either of the two remaining screws. The black going to the second light socket connect to the last remaining screw. The switch controls the black hot wire going to both lights sockets separately. The white wire of the cord connects directly to the white wires going to both light sockets connecting to the silver screw of those light sockets.

Hope this helps
